Love isn’t always bright and shiny.
Sometimes, it’s dirty and wrong, buried six feet deep in a secret place where only wild things dare to go. Hidden behind a big black curtain that covers things no one should ever see.
Sometimes it happens between two people who should never be allowed to come together. One who is a match, and the other who just happens to be gasoline.
One strike is all it takes to burn the whole world down, and that’s exactly what they plan on doing.
Even if it kills them.
warning: this book contains graphic sex, extremely brutal violence, bad language, and people repeatedly and knowingly breaking the law.
I’m not even sure how to start this review. I first read Stylo Fantôme’s Kane Trilogy books, I was frustrated to the point of insanity while reading them. Than I met Marc and Kingsley in her mercenary books and I was hooked on everything Stylo. The Bad Ones popped up on my radar and I was jonesing, wanting.
A tiny bit scared after filling out the doc for the ARC. Not knowing what you’re getting into can be a bit daunting when picking up a book. But I put on my big girl panties and dove in.
Early on, this story will draw you in. It’s an intricate tale of two people who individually struggle to accept their internal demons. But once united their connection will bring down everything getting in their way.
Imagine the big bad Wolf meeting little Red just to find out her teeth are sharper than his own.
Imagine looking into someone’s eyes and seeing yourself. Seeing what you’ve been hiding under a disguise because you are different.
Constantine Masters, Mr. Popular Jock, is from an influential and privileged family but you’d never know what is under his shiny surface, there is darkness lurking, waiting to come alive.
Dulcie Travers, the girl from the trailer park. Unnoticeable and hidden by her own choice. An observer of everything from behind the lens of her camera. Her true colors rise when Con blows into her life.
Once their fates align things are set in motion. There is no turning around. Fighting it is futile.
“Falling in love with this chick would be easy, but surviving each other…..that’s an entirely different story.”
The curtain has been lifted and when all pretenses were dropped, the darkness prevails and together they embrace the sinister sides of their personalities. Once the fire is ignited, it will burn till everything is engulfed in its path.
“They were a match and jar of gasoline.”
Is it evil that drives them? Is it human nature?
Can they trust each other? Will they conquer and rise or fall from the heights they create?
I think Tarrantino should make this into a movie. Someone please contact him and pitch it!!!
This book is a page turner full with twist and turns that will shock you. Stylo Fantôme surprises me every time by doing something totally unique and unexpected. This book is no different. This book is dark and if you’re sensitive to violence, this is not a book for you.
About Stylo Fantôme
Crazy woman living in an undisclosed location in Alaska (where the need for a creative mind is a necessity!), I have been writing since …, forever? Yeah, that sounds about right. I have been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball – I also see shades of Jennifer Saunders, and Denis Leary. So basically, I laugh a lot, I’m clumsy a lot, and I say the F-word A LOT.
I like dogs more than I like most people, and I don’t trust anyone who doesn’t drink. No, I do not live in an igloo, and no, the sun does not set for six months out of the year, there’s your Alaska lesson for the day. I have mermaid hair – both a curse and a blessing – and most of the time I talk so fast, even I can’t understand me.
Yeah. I think that about sums me up.
