I’ve destroyed everything in my life and now I’m left with nothing.
Alone and scared.
Broken and shattered.
But I’ve found a way to deal with it.
Instead of all the pain being on the inside, I make the outside ache too. Anything to make it easier to breathe.
Until one beautiful morning when I look outside and see her.
She tries to help me…
But I’m lost.
And I’m not sure I can ever be found.
Imagine one night of being reckless changing your life forever. Being so young and living your life with guilt and being haunted by memories.
“I don’t think I deserve to let go of the guilt. I don’t deserve forgiveness.”
This book is very emotional. The prologue is powerful, drawing you in from the start. Kristy’s writing is beautiful and takes you through Will’s battle of life after going through a terrible tragedy. It’s written in a beautiful way that helps you feel what Will is feeling and understand his torments. It’s deep, it’s raw, and it will tear at your heart.
“Most days I felt like I was on the bottom of the ocean with coldness seeping into my bones and the unbearable weight pressing me into the sand.”
It was great to see a relationship build for Will between Ryanne and her brother Jax and Will feel like he could be happy. The bond that develops between the 3 of them was beautiful. Aunt Liv was also such great support and it was nice to see Will’s relationship with her evolve.
As Will’s story begins to unfold and we find out more about what happened to his parents, his past demons creep through. We are taken on a heartfelt journey as Will tries to find his way.
“My life was in a dangerous tailspin and I wasn’t sure how much longer I could keep it up.”
This is a beautiful story about dealing with your inner demons, finding strength within yourself, and allowing others in. It’s written in such a manner that you feel so many emotions: pain, hope, love. Excellent debut novel!
“You’ve been my strength, let me be yours.”
