Roxie and Jen’s Review
If you’re looking for a sassy, fun, super hot and flirty read, search no more. Pick up The Matchmaker’s Playbook by Rachel Van Dyken and prepare to swoon hard and fall in love with all the characters.
Meet Ian Hunter, former NFL recruit. After a career ending injury he decides to start up a Wingman business with his bestie, Lex.
Their promise is simple—we will make the guy of your dreams fall for you. Just follow the instructions and he will be eating out of your hand no time. He has it down to a science really, and with the help of Lex’s computer knowledge, their business is an unstoppable success.
We fell in love with Ian instantly. Somewhat of a cocky ass, yet hard to resist his charms.
Caramel-blond hair that somehow managed to look wavy and thick all the damn time? Check. One dimple on the right side of my cheek? Check.
Sexy crooked smile? Check.
Rugged badass-looking scar near my chin? Check.
Smoldering hazel eyes? Check.
And don’t even get us started on penis size.
Really, it just gets better the farther south your eyes go— trust us! <– Seriously?!? Yes, two scoops of Ian please!!!!
He is a happy manwhore till he meets Blake.
Blake is sort of a tomboy, growing up without a mother figure, she is in desperate need of a little guidance of everything girly and relationshipy.
Guess who she calls? Oh you are right!!! Wingman INC to the rescue.
As the two of them start hanging together, things get complicated. Feelings develop and it’s gets messy. Very very messy.
Ian is facing a predicament that he never had to before, being attracted to a client is bad enough. But he can’t keep his hands to himself anymore.
“Right, but I’m more like one of those cute little pigs, you know, the teacup ones. Still a pig, but you can’t help but want to keep it forever because it’s so damn adorable.”
Rachel’s writing is so completely spot on. Nailing all the characters with perfect precision. The banter is funny and light. We literally couldn’t stop turning the pages as the events unfolded. We loved vulnerable, insecure Ian just as much as Mr. Cocky. It was fun to see him squirm a bit as he found himself in a new kinda position.
We can’t wait for Lex’s story. Rachel Van Dyken we really hope you are working on his book RIGHT NOW.
