Baseball has never been sexier in an all-new novel by New York Times Bestselling Author, K. Bromberg.
Easton Wylder is baseball royalty. The game is his life. His passion. His everything.
So, when an injury threatens to end Easton’s season early, the team calls in the renowned physical therapist, Doc Dalton, to oversee his recovery. Except it’s not Doc who greets Easton for his first session, but rather his daughter, Scout. She may be feisty, athletic, defiant, and gorgeous, but Easton is left questioning whether she has what it takes to help him.
Scout Dalton’s out to prove a female can handle the pressure of running the physical therapy regimen of an MLB club. And that proof comes in the form of getting phenom Easton Wylder back on the field. But getting him healthy means being hands-on.
And with a man as irresistible as Easton, being hands-on can only lead to one thing, trouble. Because the more she touches him, the more she wants him, and she can’t want him. Not when it’s her job to side in the club’s best interest if he’s ready to play.
But when sparks fly and fine lines are crossed, can they withstand the heat or is one of them bound to get burned?
K. Bromberg hit it out of the ballpark with The Player. She gave her readers another sports romance with a sassy heroine and a swoony hero while weaving just enough baseball into an intriguing story line to keep us entertained.
From the very first chapter we meet Scout, physical therapist to the elite of the sport world, daughter of the legendary Doc Dalton & Easton—cocky baseball player, athletic royalty—their chemistry and heat is off the charts.
“He’s hot. I’ll give him that. Like the mouthwatering, stop-traffic, draw-all-eyes-when-he-walks-into-a-room type of hot.”
He is injured and she is hired to help him. It should be easy and uncomplicated. Rehab Mr. Hot Shot and get him back on the field. But as sparks fly and these two get to know each other, things get messy and tangled.
Scout is sassy yet vulnerable, with secrets and a past that makes her untrusting and flighty.
Easton is complex—sweet yet cocky. Irresistible, carefree and intense. What the world sees as Mr. Golden Boy of Baseball is a man with heavy family issues and a heart of gold. It’s a heady mixture and while Scout tries to fight the attraction, she really doesn’t have a chance against this man’s charms.
“Within a heartbeat, exactly what I both wanted and feared happens: his lips are on mine. The kiss is slow and breathtaking, with soft lips and gentle tongues and murmured sighs and guiding fingertips.”
I loved these characters, the maturity to them. Their undeniable connection resulted in freaking fireworks that literally lit up the pages and created some of the hottest, steamiest and sexiest scenes in a romance book I’ve ever I read.
I was a little worried about the baseball aspect of the book, there is always a fine line with sports books where too much of the sport talk can get boring, but Kristy Bromberg kept a great balance to keep the story flowing. The plot was intriguing and in the second half, events unfolded quickly making me read faster and faster till the very last page. This story absorbed me from the very start with the sexy banter and great connection in between Easton and Scout. But it quickly developed into a engrossing and unputdownable book as the author added little twist and turns that took the plot from your typical sports romance to an intriguing and engaging story of two imperfectly perfect characters navigating through life.
I can’t wait for more!!!
