When Bethany Lewis buried her husband, she thought she’d also buried any other chance at love.
She’d married her high school sweetheart at a young age and thought they would have the happily ever after she’d always dreamed of. But a tragic accident would shatter those dreams.
Now, years after her husband’s sudden death, her world revolves around her daughters. She has a job she loves and life-long friends who are more like sisters. She has learned to be content in her life.
There was no way for her to know there is a man who would upset the balance she has so carefully created. One who would make her feel all the things she’d forgotten she could feel. A man who pined for her, but has his own issues and past to overcome.
Can Bethany allow herself to let go of the past and the guilt she feels at the thought of moving on with her life? Will her children – and her heart – allow her to embrace a new future? Or is she headed for heartbreak once more?
A second chance love story of a different kind. Learning to fall in love after a tragedy is something that Bethany never thought she would be facing. To Love Again by HC Bentley is a story that is full of heartbreak and hope, loss and love, and of course – moving on.
Bethany is now a single mother of two young girls. She has a wonderful support system between her family and her friends, friends that may as well be family. She appears to have it all together, Bethany works and provides for her children while still finding time to spend with her girlfriends. What’s missing though…something she didn’t even realize.
Jeremy…..let me start by saying YUM, he is sexy and sweet and oh so persistent. I loved how he had his eye on Bethany for quite some time. He took things slowly leading up finally asking her out, and then it was game on. He wouldn’t let her back down or feel guilty for dating.
There was a slow burn between these two – a mom trying to move on yet be there for her girls and and a man who has a hidden history that has made him who is today. Together Jeremy and Bethany explore their new relationship and all of the things that go along with it – the dating, the misunderstandings, the kids.
Although this can be read as a standalone we are introduced to characters from previous stories, books that I will most likely now go back and read! The small town friendships are something special indeed.
About the Author
There’s just something about a small town that makes relationships interesting, whether they are romances, long-running feuds, or life-long friendships. These are the relationships H.C. Bentley enjoys discovering and exploring. Well that, and the fact she just loves a good happily ever after or second chance story.
When she’s not writing, H.C. works as a cataloging librarian at her county library. In her spare time, you can find her playing pool, traveling with her family, or curled up watching movies (romantic comedies are a favorite!). She’s also an avid reader, leaning towards various authors of romance and chick lit, but her favorite is Nora Roberts.
A southern girl at heart, H.C. calls Kentucky her home. After opting to join the military to pay for college, she spent three years stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany before returning to her hometown in rural western Kentucky, where she and her husband live with their two daughters.
