When I found an eviction notice taped on my apartment door, I had two options: find a comfortable cardboard box to call home, or move in with Tucker Jameson.Seeing that cardboard makes me feel itchy, I chose the latter. Which shouldn’t be that big of a deal since Tucker is one of my good friends. And because he’s still pining after his ex-girlfriend and I’m trying to finish my nursing degree, there is nothing to worry about in the romance department, making my last semester an easy one to conquer.Boy, was I wrong.Rules are set, dinners are made, conversations are had, and a shirtless, swoony roommate walks around in nothing but a pair of black briefs, ruining me for every other man. Before I know it, I turn into a panting, lust-filled woman begging for Tucker to kiss me, touch me, and show me exactly what is hiding under those briefs. But with great orgasms, comes great consequences.Tucker might be my friend and roommate but he’s also my best friend’s ex-boyfriend, making him completely off-limits. At least that’s what my brain is telling me, my heart is speaking an entirely different language.
Let me start by saying that My Best Friend’s Ex can be read completely as a stand alone. However, for my fellow Meghan Quinn die hard fans you will remember these characters from a previous story. The A-HA moment smacked me right in the face and I laughed out loud at my realization and it made me even more excited!!
We have been given a story with two amazing characters. Tucker and Emma compliment each other in so many ways and they have been friends for years, the ease of their interactions was comforting. Although the sexual tension made for some discomfort but that’s completely normal!
Tucker is this sweet, funny caring man who works in construction (swoon). He is also carrying a huge weight on his shoulders and pain in his heart. A haunting past in so many ways that he can’t seem to move on from. He’s sexy without trying and is such a tease.
He has a type of sex appeal that draws you in, drowns you, and leaves you wanting…begging.
Tucker embraces how special Emma is and is constantly telling us so.
I glance over at her to catch the smile on her face. It’s … it’s beautiful. So genuine, so fucking happy. I haven’t been on the receiving end of a smile like that in awhile.
Emma, Emma, Emma :) This girl caught me off guard. She is sexy and doesn’t even realize it. She is caring, silly and quickly has Tucker wrapped around her finger without even trying. She knows all about Tucker’s past, as she was there when it all happened. It lurks in the back of her mind constantly and your heart will hurt whenever her self-doubt arises.
“It’s okay to spoon, Emma. Sometimes a human’s touch is all you need to heal your wounds. We opened some wounds between us this past week, and I want to heal them.”
The inner monologue of BOTH Tucker and Emma kept me on my toes. One minute they would have me in hysterics and the next I would be on the verge of sobbing from their thoughts. It was a bit of an emotional rollercoaster for me, knowing their pain and just hoping that they could work it all out. But when Tucker says, well, almost anything sweet, you just know how good things will be.
“Asking you to move in was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Having you in my life again means the world to me.”
Emma and Tucker have their ups and downs. They have rules yet they have fun (Rule #1 actually). Together they help each other grow and heal, face life and everything that comes along with it. Their friends are amazing and ridiculous at the same time and you can’t help but love them as well. Friends to lovers, house to a home….perfection!!
Up until now, I haven’t considered this place my home. How is it that with Emma living here, it actually feels like home to me?
