One kiss can change everything.
Fun and flirty Monica Stevens lives for chocolate, fashion, and boys … in that order. And she doesn’t take life too seriously, especially when it comes to dating. When a night of innocent banter with Seattle’s hottest NFL quarterback turns passionate, she fears that everything she once managed to protect will soon be destroyed.
Seattle’s most eligible bachelor, Zachary Ryan, is a workaholic by nature, an undercover entrepreneur, and passionate about the organizations he supports. He’s also addicted to Monica, the curvy brunette with a sassy mouth—and not just because she tastes like strawberries and chocolate. She’s as challenging as she is decadent, as witty as she is charming, and she’s the perfect distraction from the daily grind.
While Monica comes to a crossroads in her life, Zachary becomes an unavoidable obstacle, forcing her to stop hiding under the bleachers and confront the demons of her past. But as their connection grows stronger, she knows it only brings them closer to their end.
It’s time to let go.
To have a future, we must first deal with our pasts. But what if the two are connected?
Roxie and Jen’s Review
Every time you open a a book, you take a deep breath and hope that you’ll be swept off your feet—lost in the journey with amazing characters, a plot you travel through with them and that you’ll feel complete satisfaction once you’ve read the last page.
After reading Up in the Treehouse, we have to admit that we were a little nervous that Under the Bleachers wouldn’t possibly live up to the magic K.k. delivered. And Monica?! We met her in the first book and although Bleachers can be read as a standalone, she’s introduced in Treehouse.
Once again, K.k. captured everything we look for in a book.
This is a story about facing your fears head on and the how debilitating they can be when trying to overcome them.
Monica is the type of character you love to hate. She is beautiful, confident and seems to have it all. But not everything is what it seems.
“I may look put-together and confident to everyone else, but I’m just a girl with a confused heart who hides behind bold outfits and perfect makeup.”
She meets Zachary Ryan, superstar football player who is not only gorgeous, but has a heart of gold.
“He’s always passionate. Always thoughtful. Always looking for ways to help others. Why does he have to be so damn perfect?”
They’re assigned to work together creating a project displaying bullying for BelleCurve, the creative agency where Monica works.
Zach falls hard for Monica, but after being hurt so deeply in the past, she’s hesitant to hand over her heart.
“One kiss can change everything. It can grip you, weaken you, resolve you, strengthen you. It’s beginning; it’s end. His kiss saved me. And then it destroyed me.”
We follow these two characters as they navigate the bumps and bruises also known as life and attempt to find where they belong.
We learn so much about Monica along the way—why she struggles to commit and just how far Zach will go to prove he won’t give up on her.
“Because everyone deserves to live out their dreams. Fear simply isn’t an option.”
