THE COMPLETE USA TODAY BESTSELLING DUET
Love, sacrifice, and the lengths one will run–and chase–when their past threatens their future. This bundled box set contains both books in Caine & Addison’s bestselling duet (Bk 1: Before That Night and Bk 2: Every Night Without You).
— BOOK 1: BEFORE THAT NIGHT–
Before that night, Addison Milan had been just a college dropout secretly raising her two young siblings in a beat-up minivan she’d bought with her first semester’s tuition refund–the only money her addict mother hadn’t taken off with when she’d abandoned them nearly two years ago.
Before that night, Caine Spencer had been just a rough, gruff cop sent to check out the phoned-in claims of suspected child neglect involving the same woman he’d met just months prior when she’d first served him the city’s worst diner coffee…which he’d been drinking daily ever since.
Before that night, Addison would never have thought the man she’d been fighting hard not to fall for–her only friend in her new shadow of a life–would be in a position to rip her family apart.
Before that night, Caine would never have believed any woman could make him fall head over heels, let alone make him feel so damn compelled to look the other way when it came to his job.
Then that one perfect night changed everything.
— BOOK 2: EVERY NIGHT WITHOUT YOU–
Seven damn years of wondering whether the woman was still alive…whether she’d spent the last two thousand five hundred fifty-five days wondering if he was still alive.
Wondering whether that night was as burned into her memory as it was his.
Seven years having his heart tethered to Addison and now she’s back. With even more reasons to run than she’d had then.
Only this time, Caine isn’t letting the gorgeous little flight risk out of his sight.
Regardless of how noble her reasons may be.
My Duet Review
Unfinished Night is a duet composed of Before That Night and Every Night Without You. My overall rating of the series together is 4 stars for the books combined. I thoroughly enjoyed these stories and their main characters Caine and Addison will remain with me for awhile.
When we first meet Addison she is young, too young to be saddled with all that life has thrown at her. However, she takes is all in stride, she does what she has to do to protect and provide for those that she loves. I loved this about her, not only is she sweet and caring but she carries the weight of the world on her shoulders and does what she needs to do.
Caine is a bit older when we first meet him and that just added to his appeal for me. He was a cop (bonus points right there) yet he was such a sweet guy, always looking out for Addison and spending time with her anyway that he could. His subtle flirtatious ways will have you swooning!
Violet Duke has written a duet that is full of lust and angst, such a great combination. You get to watch a relationship blossom, bloom and then we get to watch it all over again, years later ;) Although things start off slow you know that they won’t be able to resist each other of long.
Oh holy hell, the man wasn’t just sneaking past her defenses anymore, he was taking a battering ram to ’em. And busting right through.
…in reality, their relationship was transitioning much more slowly. Naturally. And that worked for him, because he was in this for the long haul.
Watching Caine and Addison (and everyone else involved) develop their relationship was something special, not something you read about everyday. They bond not only with each other but their families as well, this just makes it more special to me.
“I still remember how easily they bonded with you. From the very beginning, they’d felt safe with you, looked up to you. With you, it was always a two-way street for them – a given that you’d be as much a part of their lives as they were in yours”
I enjoyed the shift in the ages, seeing how time changed them both based on the hand that was dealt to them during their time apart. I can’t imagine all that they have been through, struggled with and lost in this time. Violet gives us strong emotions that you will feel right alongside the characters, you feel what they are going through.
You will be swooning one moment and then on the edge of your seat wondering what is going to happen next, waiting for the twist just like Caine and Addison do for seven years….seven long years!
