Hot movie star…CHECK Gorgeous young girl…CHECK Tropical paradise complete with beaches and amazing views…CHECK Vanishing Act started out with a bang. We have the sexy and oh so famous Landon Prince, he is Hollywood’s golden boy who is burnt out and needs a break. What ensues when he runs away under his alias Lance White is not what he expected. A whirlwind romance with the young, naive and somewhat sheltered Zara.
There were instant sparks when these two met, on Landon’s part at least. When he returns Zara’s lost dog Marshmallow to her, he is immediately attracted to her yet she shows no sign of recognition of who he is. I think this is a big part of what drew him to her. His destination was so secluded and “stuck in the 80s” as he says.
Zara came across as very quiet, shy and almost nervous in the beginning. From the first time she appears there was just something there that screamed innocence, in so many aspects. She is hesitant and wary of her interactions with Landon. Her caution flag goes up easily and she seems to shy away often. But you just know that she likes him, I mean she would be crazy not to.
Every single part of me came alive when Lance kissed me.
Much of this book is them getting to know each other. They take things slowly and it is really very sweet and romantic. You can see the transformation in both of them page by page. Zara begins to lighten up and she has quite the sense of humor and Landon, even though 8 years her senior, is maturing day by day.
She was what I’d been unknowingly searching for.
I enjoyed their relationship and their interactions with one another. It was very easy going, and aside from Landon hiding who he really is, they were so honest and straightforward with each other. Landon sees what Zara needs and how they need to handle things and he does it so sweetly, he is so supportive of her and is there for her, even when she thinks she doesn’t need it.
What I did struggle with throughout the story was wondering how in 2017, even on a secluded island, that she has no idea who this man is. She visits her sister and brother-in-law often in a more populated modern area. They both instantly recognized him when they first meet him. It just made it hard to believe that she was that naive and didn’t have access to any recent entertainment. This didn’t take away from my love of their feelings for each other or how they come to fall in love. I truly liked both Landon (aka Lance) and Zara, and of course Marshmallow (aka Spike) without whom they would never have met <3
