Meet Liv Michaels
It may have been seven years, but I’d know him anywhere. Sure, he’s grown, filled out in all the right places, but his captivating blue eyes and cocky grin are exactly the way I remember. Even though I’d much rather forget.
Liv Michaels is almost there. She’s smart, determined and weeks away from landing the job she’s dreamed about for years. Time healed old wounds, even her broken heart from the devastation of being crushed by her first love.
Meet Vince Stone
Women love a fighter, especially a good one. Lucky for me, I’m damn good. But there’s one woman that isn’t interested. Not again, anyway.
Vince ‘The Invincible’ Stone is every woman’s fantasy…strong, sexy, confident and completely in control. Growing up surrounded by chaos, he’s learned never to get too attached. Love will drag you down. He adores women, treats them well, puts their own needs before his own…for the night anyway. With the biggest fight of his life coming up, his focus should be on training.
When fate brings Vince & Liv back together again, there’s no denying the chemistry is still there. But can Vince erase the old scars their past left behind? Or will Liv hurt him instead?
Worth the Chance is the second book in the MMA Fighter series by Vi Keeland. For those of you that read the first book, Worth the Fight, you have already met our leading man Vinny. Well, this time around he is all grown and is better known as Vince “The Invincible” Stone!
Let me start by saying that he definitely has grown up and is no longer that young boy that was getting into trouble and giving Nico a bad case of agita. Vince is now a well know fighter who prides himself on his performance both in and out of the ring….he is quite the man whore, always looking for a new girl, also known as…
“GIMPs. Short for Groupie I Might Pound.”
Welllllllll ok then….but he is still H-O-T!!! Whoring aside, this man is as loyal as they come. He is a protector by nature, he takes care of his mother when her life spirals out of control. Vince thinks he has all that he needs, that is until Liv walks back into his life. The girl he hadn’t seen in over 7 years reappears in his life, at his gym nonetheless.
Liv has grown up as well. She is no longer the shy and awkward girl that “Vinny” knew from high school. Liv is now finishing up her internship as a journalist which is what brought her to Vince. Old feelings come rushing back to her, remembering what they had years ago.
“I can’t tell him he steals my breath away and I forget to breathe sometimes when he’s around me. I’m sure he already thinks I’m a weirdo.”
The electricity between the two is amazing. They seem to fall back into their old ways as they become reacquainted with one another. It turns out that not only is Vince extremely athletic and sexy he also has a soft and sweet side. He reminisces about their past and brings their memories back to life…AMAZINGLY SWOONWORTHY! Liv is resistant at first, she sees how he is now and how much his life has changed. She doesn’t think that they could ever work.
“It unnerves me how I can be so completely turned on by something that should make me run the other way.”
There are secrets that they both have. As open as they are being with each other I felt like what they were hiding would tear them apart before they could even figure out what was really going on in between them. The story is told in a dual POV which lets us in on what is really going on for both of them. We are also taken to their past and given insight on their relationship in high school. It was interesting to learn why Liv was scared and hesitant.
The vibes that they are giving out now let’s us know that there is still something there. Will they be able to help each other learn the truth, what will happen when everything comes to a head and it’s all out in the open?
“Trust me about one thing, Liv…whatever is going on between us, it’s going to happen. You can make it as difficult as you want, but we, Liv, are going to happen. Neither one of us can stop it.”
