Evan Allen is a handsome, athletic, southern gentleman who now attends Georgia Southern University for no good reason.
After what he expected to be the romantic gesture of the century, Evan is looking at no friends, a year of ineligibility on the football team, and no girl.
He’s starting over alone and doesn’t know quite how to proceed. Certain members of The Crew refuse to let him face things by himself, taking him under their wing, and it doesn’t take the ladies long to notice him, either.
Sometimes life doesn’t go as you had planned. Sometimes it goes better.
Embrace, the second book in the Evolve Series by S.E. Hall, follows the characters from her debut New Adult romance, Emerge.
I am so glad that I finally got to read Embrace and continue along with The Crew ;) We pick up right where we left off in Emerge (if you haven’t read Emerge you might want to do that before reading the following reviews).
Evan has just shown up and told Laney all that he gave up to be with her, only he finds out that she has officially moved on and is with Dane. Ouch! I felt so bad because Evan really is a great guy – southern charm, manners, easy on the eyes.
While he is wallowing in his misery with none other than Sawyer he is introduced to Whitley, you remember her from Emerge right?! Real bitch, Laney hates her….well that is not the Whitley that we meet this time around. Whitley is actually very down to earth and she cares so much for the people around her.
Evan and Whitley quickly become friends and spend lots of time together….although it does cause quite a scene with Laney on a football field LOL Evan is busy being bitter toward Laney and Dane…they see each other everywhere and he just can’t get away from that part of his life. He doesn’t see how much Whitley really cares about him. He is too busy being a polite friend that doesn’t want to hurt such a sweet girl. It doesn’t stop him from looking though…
“…when a little blonde in on her hands and knees, her tank top gaping down in the front, perky ass up in the air, her face smeared with mud, AND she’s holding out a cup of worms she dug for you… This is the stuff country boys dream about. I’m so turned on right now, I want nothing more than to scoop her up and kiss the lips off her, but I just can’t. It might ruin everything, ad I can’t lose another great friend because I misread things.”
Through all of this Evan decides that it is time for him to date….yes date and let me tell you this, probably some of the funniest parts of the book! His experiences will have you rolling with laughter. Whitley still sticks by his side…showing us her spunky side when she stands up for him…
“You want me to show you why they call me Slugger?” She wipes her nose and growls. “And I don’t play softball…feel me?”
This girl was amazing! She was such a positive person, she is a member of the Lady Larks for the school and is always singing. Evan loves how she hums her own theme wherever she goes, it was really sweet. I always assumed that she was a spoiled, privileged brat and that is so not the case. She has missed out on so much in her life and I was glad to see her getting that now.
“Today has been the greatest day of my life,” she exhales in the sexiest voice. “Thank you, Evan, for choosing me and giving me everything I ever wanted.”
While all of this is going on we also go back and forth with Dane and Laney. They are new to their relationship and they are trying to work through Evan being at their school. We follow them as they learn more about each other and become…how do I say this, more familiar with one another *wink wink*. They are maturing the more we get to know them. However they do not let life or anything get in their way. I love how honest they are with each other.
Don’t worry…you get more Dane and Laney real soon, just scroll down for my review of Entangled!!!
Things heat up, and not just the Georgia summertime, when Dane and Laney go head to head over plans for her new duplex. But Laney’s got his number, and knows just how to coerce her bossy, domineering man. Spend the summer with the gang and find out…just how many is a crowd?
The members of the Evolve Crew are getting older; so is the content. Mature audiences recommended.
Entangled takes us over the course of the summer when Laney and Dane are fixing up the duplex and getting ready for Laney to move in. This book is packed with schmexy moments, both sweet and steamy.
Well, well, well! Laney is growing up!!! Not only is she moving into her own house, courtesy of the magnificent Dane, but she is really becoming quite the little minx ;) She is slowly becoming more comfortable with her love life…
“We’re still at like, twenty-four shades of grey, mister.”
Well….almost completely comfortable LOL
Dane is of course still as sweet as ever…
“You’re a part of me now, Laney, there’s no going back. No one and nothing exists before us, or after us,” my hand spreads wide across her stomach, “all that remains is out forever.”
We also get to see more of his domineering side which was SEXY as all HELL!
We get more glimpses of The Crew and how their lives are going….it really leads us up to Entice, Sawyer’s story, and I can’t freaking wait!!! Be sure to check back soon for our next installment of the Evolve series!
