Alex’s story deals with domestic abuse and adult themes. It is therefore not recommended for those under 18.
A tale of sorrow, escape, strength and freedom. Of compassion, friendship and lust.
Alex Drake a 42 year old lady trapped in abusive marriage to a controlling husband. Out of the blue she finds her life is transformed by the huge legacy left to her by the woman she always regarded as ‘aunt’. The months that follow throw her into a maelstrom as she finally escapes Lewis, the monster of a husband taking her daughter with her.
Starting her new life in London she discovers who she is and what allows her to start her journey to freedom. Will she find the love and affection she do desperately craves? Feeling totally insecure and haunted by her past she is supported through the trauma of divorce and Lewis’ continual harassment by the handsome and incredibly sexy James Aconi, the General Manager of Reid’s hotel, a luxury establishment and part of Alex’s inheritance. A younger man with ‘movie star’ looks the attraction between the two is instant and mutual, their relationship developing to friendship and more as James introduces the naive Alex to everything that a loving and complete relationship should be, including things she had never dreamed of, let alone experienced.
Battered and beaten throughout the years since her daughter was born, Alexandra Drake was a shell of the person she used to be prior to her marriage. Lewis her husband would only be home on weekends due to his career, but those two days with Lewis, Alex was verbally, physically and emotionally broken down weekend after weekend, year after year. After finding out one day that Lewis has been hiding information on her deceased Aunt Maggie that named her the sole heir to her estate that included homes, hotels, nightclubs, property and money; Alex and her daughter, Anna escape the hold of her bastard of a husband and relocate to one of her aunt’s homes, or who she thought was her aunt.
Upon starting to dissect each asset, Alex is drawn to the Reid hotel that her aunt owned because this was owned 100% by Maggie. The Reid hotel is operated by the General Manager, James Aconi, also known as the King of Sex…..grrrr!
“Through his white shirt I can see thick arms and the open neck shows how well developed he really is. I’m speechless at this James Aconi, the one with the beautiful, handsome face, the olive skin, the dark curly hair and…wow, the eyes, whoa!”
What starts off as a friendship between the owner of the Reid hotel and the General Manager becomes more than that when Alex starts to lean on James to tell her inner most kept secrets about her ex-husband.
“I know that by sharing my secret, the weight of the world has been lifted from my shoulders, the restraint I have felt for the last twenty or so years is gradually being picked away, allowing me to be me again, coupled with the fact that James and I…Well, it was a good and I feel…I feel, well…liberated!”
The friendship, the love and well, let’s just say the sex is AMAZING between Alex and James. He ends up moving in with Alex and helps to mend her body, soul and heart. James protects Alex how a lover should protect their own, with nothing but adoration and respect. He then helps her piece together her family history since we come to learn the Aunt Maggie was not her aunt and then he gets the bastard of a husband to stay the hell away from Alex, which we all gave a huge applause once that happens because let’s be honest, the asshole deserves a nice beat down and so much more.
“’I’m going to be free-James, you’ve freed me!’ I whisper against his ear. ‘I’ve done no such thing. Helped you along the way, maybe, but Maggie did this for you. Do you honestly think you would have left him if Maggie hadn’t given you the push you needed?’”
So now I can say I cannot wait to read book two of this series, Loving Alex to see if Alex and the King of Sex have their happily ever after, which they both deserve! Off to read more ladies….
Loving Alex contains adult themes, it is therefore not recommended for those under the age of 18 years.
A story of unequaled devotion, unconditional love, raw passion and new beginnings.
Having learned who she is and believing that freedom from her abusive husband is in sight, Alex continues to build a new life for herself in London. The support she receives from the incredibly sexy James appears unending as he dotes on her completely and introduces her to yet more encounters that Alex could only begin to imagine possible. But, will her past allow her to start again? Lewis, the monster of a husband refuses to let go, the temptation of her huge inheritance appearing too much of a draw for his evil nature to pass by. Will he ever let go? Will his secrets be revealed by a most unlikely source? Who else can meddle with Alex’s efforts to move on from her past? Her uphill battle continues and reveals more twists and turns whilst she becomes stronger on each step of her journey towards a life full of love and devotion.
Holy mother of twists and turns, the saga of Alexandra Drake continues. I needed a GPS to navigate through this story, but hear me on this; the story keeps getting better and better with each book. This supersedes the first book by a mile and I love, loved the first book. Let’s just say we need to combine a little Jerry Springer with some Dr. Phil and thus you have Loving Alex. It is like watching a soap opera, but with a schmexy General Manager of a hotel and a 40-something year old multi-millionaire divorcee. We get some more drama, more sex and a few surprises when we least expect it. So let’s all pick up our glasses and toast to strawberries, the Bossman, Blossom and black bags ladies, because you really need to pick this book up.
This book starts as book one left off, with Alex and James on their return flight from London, where Alex finally met with her father.
“These past few days James has shown me that it is possible to love again, and to be loved, he’s been kind and caring, he’s made me laugh and comforted me when I’ve cried and there has been some crying!”
Alex finally has her rock, the erotic and sensual James Aconi…YUMS! He has shown her that you can love without the physical, verbal and mental abuse. Her douchebag of a soon to be ex-husband is still laid up with broken legs, but that doesn’t mean his presence is not known to Alex and James through letters and photos once they are back on their home turf. Lewis still makes their lives a living hell even though they are going through a divorce.
“Whatever, I smile to myself, I really do feel totally and utterly protected by My James, Mr. Aconi, The Bossman and the man who until recently I could only have ever had in my dreams.”
We all want a happy ending for Alex and James, which to an extent does happen even though all around them is curveball after curveball thrown at them. But it is James that sticks by his lovely Alex. That doesn’t stop James from picking up the pieces at different times to mold Alex back into the smart, beautiful and powerful woman he believes she is.
“I want to be your lover, your best friend, your soul mate. I’ve found the love of my life. I look at you and smile for no reason. I want to spend the rest of my life worshipping you.”
Swoon now ladies…because oh James how we readers love you!
And now we all must wait to see how these characters will end in book three, so I will tell you for the last time ladies, if you want a book filled with drama, love and amazing sex then Loving Alex is your book. For now we will just have to dream of strawberries, chocolate syrup and some James Aconi.
