What good is running AWAY when you only end up lost?
Cassandra Pierce had her whole “perfect” life planned out by her parents. One night of pure weakness and lust has her running away from it all and seeking refuge in Alamosa with her best friend. But it seems life has other plans for her when she finds herself lost in the small town of Keaton.
Jason Bradley is a charming country guy. He lives a simple life that’s nothing like what Cassandra is used to. A single moment in life changed everything he thought he once knew, leaving him with a broken heart and an unplanned future.
What happens in Keaton is nothing Cassandra or her heart could have ever prepared for. The instant connection she shares with Jason is no secret, but what they’re keeping hidden from one another is. Will these two be able to find a way to trust each other or will their secrets tear them apart?
This was a soul searching, gut wrenching story that left me sobbing ugly, ugly tears that I will never be able to get back. It was a story that I could not get enough of and blew me completely Away in every sense of the word.
“The term Away comes in many forms and phrases. Get away, stay away, far away, go away, went away, and move away, but the term that best fits my situation…Run away.”
Cassandra needed to leave her life; she needed to get away not only from her parents and her education but also from herself and that is why she chose to take a trip to see her best friend, Melanie in Alamosa several hours away from where she goes to college. Melanie was supposed to help Cassandra make a decision that would be life altering in many ways.
“I didn’t want to go to school to get a Bachelor’s in finance, let alone a Master’s degree too. I had other dreams for my life, but they weren’t acceptable, or allowed in my family. My parents had expectations for me, and if I delivered, I was their perfect daughter. If I deviated from their plan, there would be hell to pay.”
It is during her drive to Alamosa that she blows a tire and crashes into a tree and this crash would ultimately change her life forever. The crash in Keaton left her injured, her car completely damaged and what she was told by her “knight in shining armor” about 3 hours away from her destination. Jason her knight is the epitome of what a sexy, perfect cowboy would be. Once Cassandra was taken to the ER after that crash, it was Jason that came to check on her and to also take her into his home with his parents while nursing and protecting her until her car was repaired.
After several days of being together day in and day out their friendship starts to bloom into something they both don’t realize and need in their lives.
“Was it possible to feel something for a guy I just met? It wasn’t as if I didn’t know him, but I certainly didn’t know everything he kept hidden inside him. Which normally should scare a girl, but I couldn’t help feeling a strong pull toward him.”
But is their love enough to keep them both strong enough for one another or due extenuating circumstances pull them completely apart and leave them both in dire sadness and emptiness for the rest of their lives? I will leave you ladies with one last moment that left me in utter sadness and a complete wreck…
“Went away. He went away. You went away, Jason.”
So, after all I have given you, if this book is not in your TBR list, then please hear me on this and add it ASAP, because I am in such a book hangover right now going over and over this story in my mind. And I can only wish there will be more for B.A Wolfe, because I am now a complete fan girl.
