A past hidden in darkness. Her present cloaked in secrets. The future holds the only truth that cannot be escaped.
After the mysterious and violent death of her parents, Blake Brennan finds comfort with an unconventional family. As the dramatic loss of her parents continues to haunt her—and hinders her from reciprocating love that others give freely—Blake embarks on a harrowing journey in search for the truth.
Living in a constant state of fear and need for control, vivid nightmares reveal details that lead to perilous situations. The past begins to collide with the present, and Blake must decide if the truth is worth losing the ones she loves.
Can love conquer all as her past comes to light? Or will Blake realize that there is no light in darkness?
I have no words to describe the excitement I have over this book! I have had this on my Kindle for MONTHS and for some stupid reason it just kept getting bumped down. Anyway, a friend started talking about Cole and how much she loves him and I was like WHO??? I immediately bumped it up and started reading. After 15 hours of straight reading with ZERO sleep I finished There is No Light in Darkness and I give you Bookgasm number 1 in 48 hours!!!
There are so many twists and turns in this book that I am not able to write too much because I am terrified of giving a spoiler. So lets start with Blake, she is awesome. She has been through complete freaking hell and I had NO idea what in the world was going on. She has suffered immensely and we flash forwards and backwards in time and that is how her story unfolds. Blake endures constant pain it feels like. I don’t know how to even explain her because she is so complex! Strong yet weak, sad yet happy, smart yet kinda dumb in some aspects I mean really she is a complete oxymoron. Yet I never once disliked her…which sometimes in this genre we tend to miss out on with the herione in the story.
There are a lot of characters and they fade in and out so you literally could have a chart to try to keep them all straight. No matter what though, we have a constant core group that are in her life. They comfort Blake and give her a sense of security. Aubry (male), Greg, Becky, and Cole they are her family. Cole, oh my freaking female parts…Cole. He must be the most under rated book boyfriend in the entire romance genre. WHY when I ask who is your top book boyfriend aren’t you screaming Cole??? COULD HE BE ANYMORE AMAZING????? Really!!! He is flawed, human, realistic and is absolutely amazing!!! He loves Blake so much that he crushes himself, he loves her so fierce and I swear we can only be so lucky to have someone love us that much! I just can’t even tell you how much I love him. He is hot, he talks naughty, and he forces Blake to deal with her demons. More than anything he makes her feel safe, he gives her a sense of security and LOVES her!!
“I’m in love with you, Blake. I’ve been in love with you from the moment I saw you. I’ve been in love with you from the day I was born and possibly even before then. I belong to you. My body belongs to you. My heart belongs to you. Please let me make love to you.”
Throughout the entire book I was completely engaged. I read every single place I went. I carried my iPad around like a lunatic reading as I walked and was basically useless for 2 days. The writing is phenomenal, the emotional pull I felt was so strong that I felt like I was “watching” the story rather than reading. That doesn’t happen for me very often! So did I enjoy this book…YES! Do I think it is amazing…YES! Do I think you should drop what you are reading and grab this…FUCK YES I DO!!! Not only could I not stop reading There is No Light in Darkness I immediately had to start Darkness Before the Dawn! Which is ANOTHER 5 star book! I will just say I love this book to the moon and back!!!
